Weston Pass Hut has been a labor of love. Built at 11,950 ft, this hut sits atop Weston Pass just outside Leadville, CO, one of the highest towns in America. It’s a 2.5 hour drive from Denver to the front door of the hut in the summer months, but a 6.7 mile ski or snowmobile ride in from the nearest plowed road in the winter. This place strikes a perfect balance of access and wilderness venture. Exactly the type of project Radify likes to showcase!
Built by a group of friends and family from Leadville, CO, Kim-Lee Tuxhorn, a son of one partner in the hut and a partner himself, tells us the story of how the hut what constructed and what makes it unique. Designed after European style ski lodges with an earthen house flair, this place is neat. The timber was harvested locally, milled on site, and the hut it beautifully built with timber frame elements. Though your outside surroundings are stunning, it’s got to be hard to step away from the wood burning stove and the glowing timber interior to dip into the chilly temperatures outside for another adventure.
The Weston Pass Hut is both a passion project and a successful business. Exactly what alternative real estate development projects are all about! Listen in to hear everything about this Front Range getaway!
